Residential Energy Co-op
Open Enrollment

Membership has it privileges!

Save as much as one month's energy costs! Enrollment for the Residential Energy Co-Op is ongoing and employees of current Chamber member organizations are therefore still eligible to join.  This is an excellent time to seek pricing for electricity and natural gas supply services. Members and their employees interested in enrolling in the Residential Energy Co-Op should go to the Chamber website home page at www.howardchamber.com, click on “Energy Purchasing Co-Op” and click on “New Residential Co-Op.”   Questions, call us at the Chamber at 410-730-4111. Look for more information sessions to be scheduled soon.

This is a great benefit in this expensive energy climate.
Come to our free educational session to determine if this is the right solution for your business or home.

County announces Healthy Workplaces initiative

On Tuesday this week, Pam Klahr, Executive Ken Ulman, Health Officer Peter Beilenson, other county officials, and several business owners, including: Brian Jolles, owner of the Jolles Insurance & Financial Services, Brain England from British American Auto Care, Inc,. and representatives from The Columbia Bank launched the "Healthy Workplaces Program." The program encourages business leaders to promote healthier eating and living habits at workplaces.   Businesses are invited to compete for certification at a bronze, silver or gold level, and perhaps an award that would be announced in October. Richard Krieg from the Horizon Foundation, said the foundation will fund a cash prize for a top winner.

The deadline for businesses to apply is Sept. 10. Questions can be directed to Samantha O'Neill at 410-313-6295 or by e-mail at healthyworkplaces@howardcountymd.gov.
